The Service Experts Heating and Air Conditioning Field Support Office in Plano, TX was thrilled to donate over 300 pounds of food to Minnie’s Food Pantry, also located in the Texas city.
“Last fall, I had the opportunity to get a group of colleagues to volunteer at Minnie’s and it was such an amazing experience,” said Amanda Wilson, Operations Specialist for Service Experts. “They go above and beyond providing food – they are a vital part of this community.”
Minnie’s Food Pantry was created by Cheryl Jackson as a way to recognize her mother, Minnie Hawthorne-Ewing D.D., who spent many of her childhood years wondering if and where she would get her next meal. Minnie’s doesn’t just provide free, healthy meals to families in need, they also hold classes to teach families how to utilize the food they get to create healthy, long-lasting meals. They also give resume help along with budgeting and job classes to help families get back on their feet.
Because around 50 pounds of food is given to each family to last them a month, Service Experts was able to supply meals for six families for the month.
“Each member of the team was so excited that we had this food drive for Minnie’s Food Pantry, and they even showed our group their awesome facility,” Wilson said.
